Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals include a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which will be provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your obligations for the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
To hire a vehicle, you need:
- Drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old, with age restrictions varying by vehicle type. Additional fees may apply for those under 25. A valid driving licence that corresponds to the vehicle category is required, along with proof of identity and current address. Valid payment information and a security deposit are also necessary. Any further criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement must be met.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Knottingley office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and a security deposit are usually required at the time of vehicle pick-up. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through established payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. Upon return, the vehicle should be in the same condition as it was at collection, accounting for reasonable wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as at pickup; refueling fees will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may result in extra charges, so please notify us as soon as possible if you expect a delay. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic infractions, or applicable charges incurred during your rental period, in addition to an administrative fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All car rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Full details regarding coverage and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you opt for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities or purposes. This includes racing, off-roading, or any dangerous operations. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used within its intended limits, including passenger capacity and weight restrictions. Driving outside the designated geographical area requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Knottingley will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount you paid in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
Governing Law in Knottingley
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.

We reserve the right to change these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the updated Terms.
