Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your obligations regarding the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement prevails.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To hire a vehicle in Knottingley, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra charges for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence for the appropriate vehicle category is required, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of your current address must also be presented, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional requirements may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Knottingley office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required when you pick up your vehicle. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include applicable VAT. We accept all major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and must be signed by both parties. Upon returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, barring normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as it was provided; refueling charges will apply if the tank is below this level. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle late. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include standard third-party insurance. Comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial liability. We advise you to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess, except when additional insurance is in place. Responsibility for damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms lies with you, irrespective of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please review your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities or purposes, including racing, rallying, or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, using the vehicle for unintended purposes, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and operating outside designated geographical areas without authorization are also strictly forbidden.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire in Knottingley will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
Knottingley Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.
